Task 1 - Evaluation of Process and Performance of SIX

Strengths One area that I feel like I improved on was my ability to portray a character through the dance to help communicate the meaning behind the number. Every number had a different meaning, so this meant that I had to be able to change my character within each of these to help convey the message across to the audience to make them feel a certain way for example, happy in Six and then emotional in Heart of Stone. I believe that I was able to achieve this through my facial expressions and body language as people can tell a lot from the way you portray yourself on stage. The difference between these 2 specific numbers is of course one the meaning behind each of them but also the mood of the music and the rhythm. These elements help to break the wall between the audience and the performers on stage and create a connection where everyone is feeling the same emotion and therefore sharing the same experience.  Another area that I feel like I improved on was my technical accuracy with...

Task 1 - Teacher Feedback of Performance of SIX

Image
Teacher Feedback This feedback was given back to me from my teachers from my performance throughout SIX the Musical. I appreciate all the feedback given and I'm happy and proud of my performances in SIX. I will carry on portraying the positives throughout this unit and I will take the time to improve and develop in the small areas that need working on.  Rob said that I need to work on my confidence and self - belief with choreography and my dance ability as I 'can do it!'.  This is something which I have always struggled with during my time on this course but every day I feel much more confident within myself, so I just need to keep it up.

Task 1 - Performance of SIX the Musical

Image
I believe that my performance was engaging and accomplished as I had someone come to watch me who hasn't seen me perform like this before, and they said how amazing the whole show and set up was and that everyone gave a very professional performance. They said that it was lovely to see me on stage enjoying the passion that I love and executing it perfectly. I absolutely loved performing SIX and it confirmed for me that this is what I want to achieve in the future. When I found out that I got the Queen, Catherine of Aragon, I was over the moon to be given a main part and I appreciated that the teachers believed in me enough that I could do it. I did have a few bumpy rehearsals where I had a lack of confidence and got stressed out by the whole show, but with support and realisation that I was going to be okay, I managed to forget those thoughts and just relaxed and therefore enjoyed the whole process including the shows.  1.1 I think that my interpretation of the choreography in each...

Task 1 - Rehearsal Schedule and Time Management

Image
Rehearsal Schedules   Spiking, spacing, tech/dress rehearsals Having a schedule on what we were going to be doing during the tech and dress rehearsals is very helpful as it helps things to run as smoothly as possible and everyone is aware of what the plan is.  Time management through rehearsals It's so important to be able to have excellent time management and organisational skills as it portrays a sense of professionalism and means that the rehearsal schedule can run smoothly as everyone is there that are meant to be.  I believe that over the rehearsal process of SIX, that I kept up great time management throughout the whole process. For example, during my day off on a Friday, the Queens were once asked to come in so that we could rehearse dialogue sections with Claire. Therefore, this meant that I needed to be on time and prepared ready for this rehearsal.  I'm a very organised person naturally, so being able to get myself in college on time was easier for me than ...

Task 1 - Rehearsal Log for SIX - Tech and Dress

Technical and Dress Rehearsal of SIX For me personally, I believe that I was able to stay focused during both the technical and dress rehearsal and I was able to remember my space whilst performing on stage.  During the technical rehearsals, there were a few amendments that had to be made in some certain numbers which then meant that our spacing during these numbers on stage had to change. For example, closer together in Ex-Wives and No Way. The reason behind this was because we used to rehearse in the performance space which is a lot bigger than the stage we actually performed on and for lighting purposes, we had to change some of the positions in No Way.  These changes meant that we had to adapt in many ways for example having to be more focused and notice our spatial awareness whilst performing so that no one got hurt during these numbers.  I believe that I was confident in all the dances that I was in as I had gone home and practiced which helped for when we came to r...

Task 1 - Rehearsal Log for SIX (5)

Over this week, we've been able to rehearse everything many times and we even managed to practice with the band and the soundtrack.  No Way From watching back this video, I'm much happier with how much I have improved within this song mainly my characterisation through singing. Unfortunately, at the beginning of this week I got another cold which hindered me from singing and my full potential, but I wanted to give it my best try in this rehearsal.  Considering the show is next week, I'm very happy with where I have come and how much development through this song I have done. I've worked so hard and taken on feedback from others and teachers and I feel like I am as confident as I can be to be able to perform this at the best of my ability next week. Obviously, there is always room for improvement and because I am very hard on myself and I know that I can always do better, I will want to improve on my characterisation that much more so that I can make sure that the audi...
